Rattlesnakes!

The Northern Pacific Rattlesanke (Crotalus oreganus oreganus) is the only rattlesnake found in the Bay Area. It is also the only dangerously venomous snake found in the region. Our local rattlesnake species is highly adaptable and can be found in nearly all habitat types ranging from oak woodland to vacant lots and suburban backyards. It is not uncommon for rattlesnakes to explore backyards, garages, or decks in search of food or water.
